In the summer kitchen, we focused on preserving its utilitarian charm while stabilizing the structural elements. Decisions such as painting the newer replacement floorboards and the original floorboards in different shades helped maintain the room's historical character. Additionally, we replaced the fireplace mantel with a new one that aligns with modern fire safety codes. Our goal was to preserve the space's historic integrity while adapting it for current use, ensuring it could support community programming for today.

I asked Patrick to add a new chisel marking design on the stonework around opening of the bake oven to put his mark on his masonry work. Jon did this on his stone work as well, to differ from the markings on the original stone work.
